Creative Work - Year 12 HSC Major Work

Exploration of the Intrinsic Nature of Books through Greenbergian Form

My Body of Work was created for the Higher School Certificate in 2013. It explores through the unconventional medium of books  art theorist Clement Greenberg’s concepts of art and thus abstraction where the intrinsic properties of the medium are utilised through structural elements such as form, colour, line, texture and pattern.  Through the use of sculpture the element of form is focused on exploring the intricacies of introverted and extroverted shapes. The work is heavily influenced by contemporary architecture namely the work of Zaha Hadid.

A Great Piece of Architecture

1 Bligh Street Sydney CBD

Designed by Ingenhoven Architects from Germany and Architectus of Australia 1 Bligh Street is an ecologically sustainable development and has been awarded six green stars by the Green Building Council of Australia. I regard this building a great piece of architecture due to its environmentally sustainable design which is vital for ensuring the future in our industrial society. Aesthetically this building appeals through the extensive use of glass creating light filled spaces which is further enhanced by the atrium.

Original Photo of Something Beautiful

Sunset in Seaforth

This photo was taken in Seaforth Sydney at a beach on sunset. The figures are silhouetted against the skyline with the lights of the city in the distance. The picture is filled with the purple pink colours of sunset which reflects off the water. Houses are situated behind the beach and their occupants get to experience this view every day. There is a saying that for every sunset you view, fifteen minutes are added to your lifespan as you have taken time out of a busy schedule to witness natures beauty.
